Sheer literally means sweetened milk and khurma means raisins; doesn’t that combination already make your mouth water? Besides raisins, you can also add almonds, dry dates and pistachios to infuse a collage of exotic flavours and aromas to this already delectable Iftar dessert recipe.

Ingredients (serves 4 people)
- National vermicelli: ½ cup
- Ghee: 1 tbsp
- Milk: 1 litre
- White cardamom: 3
- Pistachio sliced: 3 tbsp
- Almonds sliced: 3 tbsp
- Saffron: ½ tsp
- Sugar: ½ cup heaped
- Dry dates: 4 sliced
- Khoya: 2 tbsp
- To make your very own Sheer Khurma, first heat up ghee in a pan.
- To it, add both, the white cardamom and vermicelli. Heat till they’ve browned.
- That done, now you have to pour in the milk along with some sliced dry dates. Cook this entire mixture for 5 minutes.
- Add in the sugar, almonds, khoya, saffron and pistachios once you notice the dates softening up.
- Is your mouth watering already? Just give it another 5 minutes to cook.
- And voila! Your Shahi Sheer Khurma is ready to serve, either hot or cold, based on preference.
